MOVING RIGHT ALONG traces its roots back to 1976 when it was launched as a part-time venture known then as Jim’s Moving Company. Five years later Jim earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing at Baruch University and Jim’s Moving had built a reputation for low cost, reliable and friendly service. In 1981, Jim’s Moving became MOVING RIGHT ALONG SERVICE, INC.
The 1980s were a growth period for MOVING RIGHT ALONG, fueled by a booming real estate market. Consequently, a one-truck operation became an eight-truck organization and most importantly maintained our reputation as a low cost, reliable and friendly moving service.
In 1988 MOVING RIGHT ALONG diversified and purchased a Packaging Plus franchise in Forest Hills, NY, offering authorized UPS & FedEx shipping services to anywhere in the world, as well as custom packing, general business services (faxing, copies, mailbox rentals), retailing packing supplies and boxes. Furthermore, this created a niche for MOVING RIGHT ALONG – the packing and shipping of furniture door-to-door anywhere, without a minimum, therefore giving consumers an alternative to the expensive 1000 lb. + minimums most movers have.
The early 1990s brought new challenges again with the opening of a 10,000 square foot warehouse in Glendale, NY, thus allowing MOVING RIGHT ALONG to offer crating, containerized storage, interstate and international moving. And as we move into the new century, we have once again continued to expand our services by opening a 2nd facility.
This facility is 35,000 square feet, fully secured with 24-hour video monitors, cameras, central station alarms, climate control and a sprinkler system to provide the utmost security for our clients’ valued goods.
This expansion has allowed us to diversify once again by consolidating our storage into our new facility. Our Glendale, NY, location now boasts 10,000 square feet of gently used furniture as well as unique collectibles of all kinds. We give special attention to estates by buying furniture and providing a full cleanout service of apartments and homes.
Our 35 year history has been active and rewarding both to our customers and to us. Our uniformed employees are not only knowledgeable, but also friendly and accommodating, consequently, making the actual moving experience a trouble-free venture. In fact, many clients claim that the easiest part of their moving process was the move itself.

Owner, Jim Rueda, personally oversees all of the company’s operations and consequently is able to assure all of MOVING RIGHT ALONG’S clients a smooth transition to their new homes or offices, whether it be locally, interstate or overseas. MOVING RIGHT ALONG is licensed by the Department of Transportation, The Department of Consumer Affairs, and The Federal Department of Transportation. We are members of the Long Island, State and National Moving and Storage Associations, allowing us to stay on top of the important issues in our industry, which in turn provides for better customer service. We are also members of the Better Business Bureau’s Customer Commitment Program, a group of elite businesses that ensure quality service and customer satisfaction.
